Particle is the drum-and-bass alias of South London producer Alex Smith. His sound draws on early jungle, techno and breakbeat. He broke through in 2019 with a release in Critical Music’s Binary series, after the 2018 single Got You / Level 1 on Skankandbass. His music has also appeared through Shogun Audio, Hospital Records and Drum&BassArena, and he has remixed tracks by Hybrid Minds, Skeptical, Sam Binga and Enei. His base is London, United Kingdom.
In 2024, Particle released the album Pyro on Critical Music. He also collaborated with Wingz on Shunt / W4M. In 2025, he released Hold Still on Overview Music.
In 2026, Particle released Steelyard on Dance Macabre and 18% on Drum&BassArena with Catching Cairo. That year, he also collaborated with skantia, Atmos, Catching Cairo and Lyam on Particle, and released Coming Down on Shogun Audio.
