Virus Recordings

Virus Recordings began in 1998, founded by Ed Rush and Optical. Based in London, United Kingdom, it is a drum and bass label whose releases span dark, menacing sounds and melodic, uplifting material. The label credits itself with starting neurofunk.

Its first release was Ed Rush and Optical’s “The Medicine / Punchbag,” issued in 1998. That year also brought the pair’s “Lifespan / Crisis” and their album Wormhole.

Virus Recordings has issued music by Noisia, Black Sun Empire and Audio, alongside releases by Ed Rush and Optical. Other artists with label releases include Mefjus. Audio’s Patient Zero / Collision arrived on Virus Recordings in September 2023.
