On 12 December, DJ Spice (Back2Basics Records) plays the Da Bass party at the Mama club. She is hugely popular around the world but practically unknown here, so get acquainted.
Spice began her career in 1989 as a professional dancer, performing at the clubs: Skelter, Jungle Fever and Dreamscape. At the London club Speed, she met Jason Ball (Jason Ball aka JB) from Back2Basics Records. Together with JB Spice recorded the track Beats Back, which received positive feedback from many DJs. A remix of Micky Finn's track brought Spice recognition as a producer. Her tracks were released on the labels Back2Basics and Second Movement. In 1997, Spice began trying her hand as a DJ.
The most successful year for her was 1999. DJ SS and JB made a remix of her track Step Off. That year, Spice also took part in a four-week tour of cities across Great Britain and Scotland and became a guest on Internet radio. At that time, Spice was a resident at the legendary Music First club. Her track Dynamite was included in the mixes of Grooverider, Storm, SS, Ray Keith, Hype, Zinc and Bailey.
With a rich discography and successful releases, Spice earned the title of a “talented producer.” Each of her subsequent releases was noticeably stronger than the previous one. As a result, she received numerous mentions on television, remixes on various labels, and toured Europe (Slovakia, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland) and beyond (the USA, Turkey, Bangkok and Japan) with B2B as a DJ.
In 2001, Spice, together with JB and vocalist Dark Angel, recorded the track 3 Dimensions, which attracted the attention of Bryan G, Frost, Roni Size and Grooverider. In August 2001, a remix of Dynamite was released, along with a new track — It's Love. A remix of the classic track Real Love was released in March 2002 on the LP Classic Remixes Vol. 2, which also featured tracks by Twisted Individual, Ray Keith and DJ Hazard.
That year, Spice, JB, Roni Size and Dark Angel joined forces for the release of Me Myself & I, released on September 23 as two records: the first featuring the original mix and the bonus track Party Hard, the second featuring the Roni Size mix and the bonus track Bye-Bye.
