Reading-born Cameron Hayes, whose real name is Heather Hayes, began writing songs at about 11. Now based in London, Hayes works as a singer-songwriter, vocalist and producer. Her music draws on pop, alternative and electronic styles, including drum and bass. Her debut mixtape, The Fault Is Mine, is a seven-track, introspective project spanning multiple genres; she also released a song with the same title. In 2019, the single “Chemical Love” marked an early release under her own name.
Hayes’s drum-and-bass work has included vocals and songwriting with Wilkinson, Dimension and Sub Focus, as well as collaborations with producers Blueprint, Mave and Callum George. Dimension’s 2019 single “Devotion” features Hayes, while “Enter Night” brought her together with Sub Focus and Wilkinson. She has also released music through Critical Music, Hospital Records, Shogun Audio and NUFORM. “Spend The Night” reached Spotify’s Massive Drum and Bass playlist. Hayes opened for The Beaches during their 2023 UK and European tour.
In 2024, Hayes released the EP Second Best and the single “Ascend” with Subsonic. The following year brought “Uninvited”, a collaboration with Dux n Bass and Sudley, and “Worlds Apart”, featuring Changing Faces. Her single “Superego” was produced by Dan Smith of the Noisettes. “Own Me” was released independently.
