LowQui

LowQui began performing as a drum-and-bass MC in London’s club and rave circuit in the 1990s. He drew inspiration from Stevie Hyper D’s double-time raps and MC GQ lyrical delivery, and described his own approach as focused on lyrics, harmony and balance. He has also worked as a DJ and performed with Goldie, S.P.Y., DJ Marky and Black Sun Empire. He said a 1991 Spiral Tribe rave in southern England sparked his commitment to hardcore and electronic music. In 2017, he said he had been MCing for more than 20 years.

His regular MC work has included Metalheadz, Dubplate Style and Hospitality events. S.P.Y. is a close friend and the DJ with whom LowQui most often travels and performs. He has named Goldie, Marky, Bailey, Randall and Andy C among his favourite artists to MC for. His collaborations include tracks with Seba, Unglued, Alibi and S.P.Y.; he has also performed with The Upbeats in a live band and worked on dubstep projects.
