In the early 1990s, Peter Rogers and Andy Powell were collecting hardcore records while still at school. Rogers had already made music as Technicolour, and Powell as Komatic, before they began working together in 2007 as the London drum-and-bass duo Technimatic. Their first joint release was the 2009 single Preacher, issued on Worldwide Audio. The pair’s sound has been described as melodic drum and bass with liquid influences, as well as emotionally charged. They say they let each track’s creative process steer its style, instead of beginning with a fixed sound or concept.
In 2012, Shogun Audio signed Technimatic to its sister imprint SGN:LTD. The duo’s first release for the imprint was the 2013 Intersection EP. They also contributed the track “Bristol” to Shogun’s Way Of The Warrior Pt. 2 album series. Their 2014 album Desire Paths drew on the pair’s influences and creative process; they singled out “Perseverance,” “Music Is Music,” “Tectonic” and “Mucky Jeff” as notable tracks. The album was followed by Better Perspective in 2016, a 17-track release, and Through the Hours in 2019.
Technimatic’s releases have also appeared on Critical, Hospital, RAM, Spearhead and Good Looking Records, alongside their work for Shogun Audio and SGN:LTD. In 2021, Rogers and Powell established their own imprint, Technimatic Music. The duo have described a collaboration with LSB as part of their work together, and joined Friction for a track in Friction’s VS series. Their releases have included the 2015 Flashbulb EP and the 2012 single “Turner Road”.
On Technimatic Music, Rogers and Powell released the single “Unity” on 29 November 2024; the track was written and produced by the duo. Their 2025 releases included the single “From Within” on Spearhead Records and the single “When You Love Me” on UKF. In 2026, Technimatic played Club Exil in Vienna on 3 October, following appearances at UNO MALTA, Le Kilowatt in Paris, Geestmerambacht and Tägi earlier that year.
