Utrecht producer Jelle runs Rueben as a solo drum-and-bass project, separate from his work in the duo Ordure with Jesse. The project gives Jelle room to make music shaped by personal emotional experiences. Rueben’s sound has been described as blending deep and liquid drum and bass. Early releases included a remix of Grey Code’s “Simple Things” and the collaborative Prima Dollo EP, made with Waeys for Overview. Rueben has also released music through Shogun Audio and Music Squad.
The Memories EP was Rueben’s first full release under the project name, on Overview. The 2023 EP In My Mind followed, then Your Move, an Overview EP released in March 2024. Its collaborations included Klinical and SOLAH, Grey Code and PHI NIX, TravizWILDE, and Wingz. In September 2024, Rueben released the track “See You Later” with vocalist flowanastasia on Shogun Audio. The 2025 single “It Is What It Is” is among Rueben’s more recent releases.
