Another interview in the DROPTHEBASS.RU Innovation Report series. This time with a person who needs no introduction — Andy C. One of the best DJs on the drum and bass scene for the past decade and a half, and the owner of the legendary RAM Records label. Andy C has headlined numerous festivals, and Innovation In The Sun in Spain was one of them. DJ Step conducted a quick interview with Andy C at one of the festival’s parties, after which Andy C rushed straight to the airport so as not to fall behind his extremely busy touring schedule.
DJ Step: What do you think of Innovation In The Sun, and does it feel different from other festivals?
Andy C: Innovation is a legendary organization; it’s already been running for 12 years, and I’ve been coming here for 12 years. There’s such a family atmosphere here, and it’s wonderful that everyone comes here to relax for an entire week. This is the first night, and we’ve had a great start, so I’m sure everyone will have a fantastic week!
You’ve already played your set today. What do you think of the crowd?
Fantastic!
I was at the party when you first came to Saint Petersburg about 10 years ago. Do you remember that visit? Was it cool?
Yes, of course, it was wonderful! I love Saint Petersburg, especially Pirate Station, and the way they organize events there — it’s fucking awesome!
What do you think about coming back to Russia and playing for a large crowd?
Yes, I’ll come back to Russia soon, definitely. I’ll bring lots of great music with me!
What sound will be mainstream next year?
The RAM sound! We’re working on it! You know, we’re happy to work with a number of good artists and promote them through RAM Records. We’re always moving forward, so keep an eye on what we’re preparing for release.
Okay, I have to run for my flight!
