Beats In Mind releases drum and bass music and was established by producer and DJ pyxis as a label and community supporting artists with mental-health concerns. Based in London, the project took shape after pyxis saw people in the scene discuss their mental health following World Mental Health Day in October 2019. An initial album idea grew into a label, which pyxis launched in January 2020; the first Headsbass album appeared that year.
Headsbass operates as a Beats In Mind sub-label and compilation series, pairing drum-and-bass releases with support for DJs, clubbers and fans dealing with mental-health issues. The series raises money and awareness for mental-health charities, and its releases include volumes 1 through 15 and Head2Head editions. Compilations have featured Etherwood and Alpha Rhythm; other artists on Beats In Mind include Leniz, Marble Elephant and MSDOS. In 2020 the label issued pyxis’s single HEADSBASS VOLUME 1 PART 2. Its releases span liquid drum and bass, dancefloor and neurofunk.
