Circus Records began in 2009, founded by Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, Simon Swan and Earl Falconer. The London label is best known for dubstep and wider bass music, from melodic to dancefloor releases, with drum and bass in the mix. Cookie Monsta, FuntCase and Pegboard Nerds are among its associated artists; earlier names linked to the label included Roksonix and Brown & Gammon.
Doctor P and Flux Pavilion established the label to put out dubstep and retain control of their music. Its 2011 single “Jump Back” paired Flux Pavilion with Skism. Releases have also included music by Zomboy, while Flux Pavilion’s “I Can’t Stop” was sampled by Kanye West and Jay-Z for “Who Gon Stop Me”. Andrew Neill took on the label manager role in 2012.
Circus Electric joined the Circus Family as a sub-label in 2022, with an experimental and eclectic remit; DPMO Records is also part of the family. In 2024, Circus Records marked its fifteenth year with the 43-track compilation Circus Four.
