Obsessions is a sub-label created in 2005 by Black Sun Empire, the drum and bass group formed in Utrecht in the Netherlands, which still runs it. The label releases darkstep, neurofunk and techstep, and its roster has included Black Sun Empire, Desimal, Rido and Mindscape.
Its first record, in 2005, was a single by Dee'Pulse, Sinthetix and Xplorer that paired “Sahara” with “Cryogenic (Remix)”. Later 12-inch releases paired “Exit Row” with “Maya” and “Machines” with “Blackwhite”. Rido’s “Exoplanet / Poison” followed as a single in 2011. Obsessions gives Black Sun Empire a separate outlet for darker drum and bass alongside its main label.
