Subtitles Music is a drum and bass label founded in 1999 by Norwegian producers TeeBee and Kjetil Saagstad. Initially it issued the founders’ solo work, then developed a roster of international artists. Its base is in London, and TeeBee became its sole manager in 2002 after Saagstad departed. The label’s early story followed the pair’s exit from Certificate 18, where TeeBee had put out his debut solo album, Black Science Labs. Subtitles is associated with a dark, atmospheric sound, drawing largely on harder-edged drum and bass influenced by techstep and neurofunk. Its signed artists have included Calyx, Noisia and Ed Rush.
TeeBee’s Daywalker marked the label’s first release. The imprint has continued to put out albums and singles from TeeBee and a wider roster across darker drum and bass.
