CLIPZ is the drum-and-bass and jungle alias of Bristol DJ and producer Hugh Pescod, who also records as Redlight. Pescod began releasing drum and bass in the early 2000s as DJ Clips, with releases on Full Cycle and Digital Soundboy. His first steps came through Bristol’s studio community, where he worked with Roni Size, Krust and Die. He recalls that GQ, Roni Size, Die, Bryan G, Grooverider and Krust played his early tunes, and has said that Bristol’s music community in the early 2000s helped shape his sound. Pescod adopted Redlight to pursue a different creative direction before reviving CLIPZ to reconnect with the jungle and drum-and-bass music he had grown up listening to.
He returned to releasing music as CLIPZ in 2019 with “Down 4,” released on Columbia. As Redlight, Pescod released the 2015 album X Colour, the single “What You Talking About!?” featuring Ms. Dynamite, and “Stupid” featuring Roses Gabor. The Redlight EP 36 features Raekwon, Syron and Lotti. His label credits also include MTA, Lobster Boy and Polydor. CLIPZ’s collaborations include “No Time” with Nia Archives and “Say Less” with Obi Franky, as well as “Thunderstorm” with Rudimental and Deyaz. CLIPZ also collaborated with Die on “Channel Rock” and Krust on “Brainwash.” His releases include the EP Showtime EP and the single “Cuban Links.”
CLIPZ released “Maia Maia” with Nia Archives in 2025 on Up Ya Archives. In 2026, he released “2Hi / Heli Dubz” on Philly Blunt Records and “Just Love” with SHY FX and Vybz Kartel on 0207 Def Jam. That year he also released “Body Tune” on Dream Vision Future and “The Touch” featuring Rose Gray.
