The Vanguard Project is a drum-and-bass collaboration between BCee, whose real name is Steve Jeffery, and Villem, the alias of Andrew Wilson. Formed in 2015 and associated with Ipswich, the duo grew out of BCee’s role as label boss of Spearhead Records, where the project made its home. Its releases also appeared on Fokuz Recordings and Future Retro. The pair issued seven EPs under the series title The Vanguard Project, Vol. 1–7, as well as the self-titled album The Vanguard Project. Their first EP, Volume One, came out on Spearhead Records in 2016 and features Pat Fulgoni.
On Fokuz Recordings, the duo released the 2023 EP Adoration. They also worked with Dexcell, Pat Fulgoni and Leo Wood on the EP Identity Crisis. DRS features on their single Everyday Is Stolen.
Their remix credits include work for Stanton Warriors, Hybrid Minds, Utah Jazz and Riya, along with a remix for BCee and S.P.Y.
In 2016, the duo joined BCee, Dave Owen and Pola & Bryson on the Soul Trader Records single Year of Soul Vol 1 - Sampler 1. A 2021 release on Future Retro paired DPR and Leo Wood on Eden (The Vanguard Project Remix). In 2023, Catching Cairo and L.I.T.A. featured on the UKF single Vows / Stronger. That year also brought three remixes on Spearhead Records: Emba’s Karma (Emba Remix), L-Side’s D.I.T.U. (L-Side Remix) and Particle’s Everyday Is Stolen (Particle Remix).
