0207 Def Jam was launched in London in November 2020 by Universal Music UK as the British home of Def Jam Recordings, with twin brothers Alec and Alex Boateng as co-presidents. Amy Tettey joined as managing director, Jacqueline Eyewe as marketing director and Char Grant as A&R director. The name comes from the London telephone code.
Stormzy was the label's first signing, with Potter Payper also on the launch roster. Its rap and grime focus has crossed into drum and bass through singles such as Bru-C and Wilkinson's Paradise in 2022, and Catching Cairo's What A Waste followed in 2026. Danny Byrd is another drum and bass artist with music on the label.
