1985 Music

1985 Music is a London label founded in 2016 by Belgian producer Alix Depauw, who records as Alix Perez. Perez established the label to issue his own work alongside releases by other artists, with Amy Jayne as label manager. Its output covers drum and bass, half-time, 140 and experimental beats, with music also issued beyond its central tempos and genre boundaries. Its electronic releases have primarily focused on 85 and 170 BPM.

Skeptical and Monty have both released projects there, alongside artists including Visages and Drone. The Edition and Atlas LP series, and the Folio and Codex EP series, have been used to introduce artists. Perez also creates the label’s artwork and clothing, drawing on punk, metal and industrial techno aesthetics. Label showcases featuring its artists and music have taken place across Europe and North America.
