Overview Music

Overview Music is an independent drum and bass label established in Brighton in 2018 by Peter Maxted, who performs as Energy, and Oliver Dumas, also known as sub-antics. It is based in Brighton and Bristol. The label’s early sound drew on minimal, technical, deep and atmospheric drum and bass, later widening to more upfront tracks and some 140-BPM music. Its releases include tracks and EPs by Monrroe, Klinical and SubMarine, as well as music from Wingz. Klinical’s “Around Me” reached the top of Beatport’s all-genres chart as an early breakthrough, and Wingz’s “Shattered Perception / Detractor” appeared in 2019.

Early activity included a residency at Brighton’s Volks Nightclub, and Overview Music has put on events across the UK and Europe. Its compilations include the Overview Part. 1, Part. 2 and Part. 3 series. In 2022, the label started a mentorship program for female-identifying producers and later partnered with Dynamics. It marked its hundredth release in late 2024 with the two-part remix compilation Overview100.
