Philly Blunt Records was established in 1994 by Bryan Gee and Jumpin’ Jack Frost as a sister label to V Recordings. Associated with Bristol, it releases jungle and drum and bass, especially jump-up, with a raw, party-focused sound, and took a more junglistic line than V. Its releases helped push the early Bristol sound alongside Full Cycle Records and Dope Dragon.
The label’s first release, Leviticus’s “Burial,” reached the national charts, and early output also included Dillinja’s “Sky” and Firefox’s “Buck Rogers.” DJ Krust and DJ Zinc released music there too. The original run lasted until 1997, and Philly Blunt resumed in the late 2000s with veteran and newer artists: Serum’s “Snuff Box / Rat Trap” came out in 2010, and L-Side, Heist and Bladerunner have also appeared on the label. In 2026 it released CLIPZ’s “2Hi / Heli Dubz.”
