Soul Deep Recordings was founded in 2011 by Scott Allen, after he had spent several years producing tracks and securing releases with other labels. He created the label as an outlet for established and emerging drum-and-bass producers. Its releases combine soulful, emotive qualities with deep, liquid, jazzy and atmospheric styles. The label has issued music by Lenzman, Furney and Malaky, including MSDOS’s Soul Addiction EP in 2011 and Funkware’s Musique Liquide in 2015.
Soul Deep Recordings later added the Soul Deep Exclusives and Soul Deep Digital sub-labels. Its Artist Spotlight Series pairs albums focused on individual producers with interviews about their influences and work; the series began with an album by Furney. The label regularly puts on events and partners with other labels to promote drum and bass. Scott Allen is based in Los Angeles, USA.
