In 1991, A Sides released his first record, after growing up in Dagenham, Essex, as Jason Cambridge. Hip-hop and electro were among his early musical interests before he moved into hardcore, jungle and drum and bass. He has made music since 1990, and his work spans DJing, production and engineering. Cambridge began DJing with a laptop around 2003, first using Final Scratch and later switching to Serato. His production has appeared on Metalheadz, Valve and True Playaz.
Cambridge founded Eastside Records in 1996, releasing his own music and work by other artists. He also established the Fuze imprint, alongside Eastside. His releases include the 2001 single Bustin' up Styles EP on Eastside Records and the track “Punks” on Strictly Underground. His solo albums include Follow The Groove and Worldwide, released in 2003 and 2010 respectively, followed by Revisited in 2014. The 2022 album Life & Soul is another of his solo releases.
Cambridge has worked with Calibre, Makoto, DJ Marky, Break and MC Fats. His long-running musical partnership with MC Fats includes the track “What U Don’t Know”. With Nathan Haines, Cambridge recorded as Sci-Clone; “Lucid” is a track from that project that he has singled out as especially meaningful. A Sides and Makoto made the 2015 album Aquarian Dreams. Cambridge also released music under the aliases Joe 90 and D.T.
In 2023, the Sci-Clone and Nathan Haines collaboration returned for the single “Radio Therapy - Pt. 2” on Metalheadz. That year also brought the single “Stinger / Orion” on Exiled Recordings and “Chances / Only One Sound” on Symmetry Recordings. In 2024, Cambridge joined Big Bud and Furney for the album Pioneers, Legends & Icons of Liquid Drum & Bass Music. His 2025 single “In Your Eyes” was made with Electronic Youth and released on ASTIR Recordings.
