A-Sides (real name Jason Cambridge) was born and raised in Essex. Jason is responsible for more than 300 releases and owns the label Eastside Records.
A-Sides began his career in the early ’90s as one of many young talents from Romford. He wrote music and went to raves to hear how it sounded, until he met Ola from The Stage One Music Company, who offered to distribute his music. A year later they set up their own label, Boombastic Plastic, where Jason released music as Citadel Of Kaos together with Jan Salisbury and Simon from Earth Leakage Trip. Citadel Of Kaos made experimental breakbeat and techno. Soon only Jan remained in the project, and George Jones joined him.
As Sunshine Productions, Jason began releasing on JAL (Just Another Label). Tracks such as “Above the Clouds” and “Symphony In September” are among the many rave anthems he wrote and released on JAL.
Jason then decided to try other musical directions, and in 1996 he and Ola founded a drum and bass label, East Side Records. Most of the label’s artists came from East London (the East Side). Jason assembled a strong team of excellent musicians: Cool Hand Flex, Uncle 22, Majistrate, Shape Shifter, Fate, D.T., Randall and others.
In 1997 Jason opened another label, Fuze, releasing harder, more techno-oriented music from projects such as Embee, Elements Of Noize and The Vagrant (one of Jason’s aliases). A-Sides is constantly looking for new music and artists for his labels, strengthening the already solid rosters of Fuze and East Side. Scene stars such as Kenny Ken, Storm and Fabio regularly play tracks by East Side and Fuze artists on the radio, in clubs and at major raves.
