Carnelian Music began in 2015, founded by a group of music enthusiasts, and is run by Riya and Collette Warren from Bristol. The label centres on drum and bass, from liquid funk and vocal drum and bass to dark neurofunk. Riya and Collette Warren’s 2021 album Two Sides of Everything received five nominations at that year’s Drum & Bass Arena Awards.
The single “All for Something” by Collette Warren, L-Side and Riya came out on 6 August 2021. A vocal competition linked to “Surrender” that year was won by Luke Truth, who went on to release “The Way” with Motiv on the label in 2022. That year also brought “Leave It All Behind” by Gemma Rose featuring Pyxis and Alpha Rhythm. In 2023 Riya and Collette Warren released the album More Sides of Everything, followed by a remix album of the same title. Philth, Mystific and Stuart Rowe have also released music on Carnelian, and Collette Warren and Riya’s single “Twin Flame” arrived in 2025.
