CIA Deepkut is an imprint of CIA Records, launched in 2006 for deep and rolling drum and bass. CIA Records operates from Bristol under Total Science, the duo formed by Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Smith, who established CIA in late 1997. Deepkut sits alongside CIA and CIA Ltd within the label family. Its releases pair soulful, deep melodies with intricate beats that hit hard.
Artists on the imprint include Total Science, Digital, Spirit, Calibre, and Nymfo. Calibre’s “Release / Basic” appeared in 2006, followed by “Two Drop / Understand”, and the label put out further 12-inch records by Calibre, Spirit and Makoto between 2007 and 2010. Impish’s “Around / No One Else” arrived in 2017.
