Space Cadet is a Manchester drum and bass label founded in 2018 by a group of DJs and producers and run by DRS and Dan Blindside. It releases drum and bass, sometimes combining the genre’s established forms with experimental sound design. Its range also includes hip-hop and jazz-influenced music, as well as liquid drum and bass, neurofunk, and jungle rollers.
DRS’s 2018 Space Cadet EP marked the label’s launch, with production from GLXY, Artificial Intelligence, Skeptical, and Dogger & Mindstate, alongside DRS’s vocals. DRS and GLXY released Rain Dance on the label that year. In 2020, DRS followed with Space Cadet EP II, featuring Zero T, L-Side, Kid Drama, and Mozey. Space Cadet has also released music by Submorphics and Creatures, along with Zar’s debut album, Anima, which includes collaborations with DRS and EVABEE. The label also puts on events and showcases in the UK and abroad.
