Transparent Audio is an independent drum and bass label from Bristol, founded by Thomas Davies and launched in October 2020. Before starting it, Davies ran Instigate Recordings, a deep, minimal dubstep label that began in 2013. Transparent Audio was set up to support developing producers and initially concentrated on deep, minimal drum and bass. Dava, Felov and Yannons were among its early artists.
The label’s drum and bass output ranges from dark rollers to liquid styles, and its releases later broadened to include 140 and dubstep. Spektiv, Morrow, Creatures and Minor Forms have also released on it. Releases include Stokka’s Delusions / Back Up and Idle Means’ Dial You / Signs (feat. Verbz). Felov’s single Pomona came out on Transparent Audio in 2020, and the label marked its fifth year with the compilation 5 Years of Transparent Audio. Transparent Audio runs a recurring podcast and puts on live events.
