Founded in 2003 by DJ Fresh and Adam F, Breakbeat Kaos brought together their labels Breakbeat Punk and Kaos Recordings. The London-based independent label releases drum and bass music. Its debut arrived that year as a double A-side by DJ Fresh, pairing Dalicks with Temple Of Doom.
Breakbeat Kaos put out music by Pendulum, Nero and Sigma. In 2004, Pendulum’s Another Planet / Voyager reached the top of the UK Dance Chart, and the label issued the group’s debut album, Hold Your Colour, the following year; it later earned gold certification in the UK. The label also released the compilation Jungle Sound: The Bassline Strikes Back! and operated the Under Construction and Dogs on Acid sublabels. After ceasing releases in 2012, Breakbeat Kaos resumed operations in 2018. Adam F later said that the label’s releases put artists’ identities and creative vision ahead of dancefloor or chart hits.
