Spearhead Records was founded in 2005 by BCee, the stage name of Steve Jefroy, who leads the label. Its drum and bass combines soulful, melodic and uplifting elements with liquid and dancefloor-oriented sounds, alongside vocal-led music and storytelling. The label supported the careers of Hybrid Minds, Netsky and Logistics, while Riya has also released music on it. Its 2005 single Misguided was recorded by BCee and Lomax.
In 2011, Spearhead began presenting club nights and festival stages under the Spearhead Presents banner, with events across the UK and Europe. Festival stages included Outlook and Let It Roll, while London club nights took place at venues such as Brixton Electric and Village Underground. Before starting the label, BCee co-ran Rubik Records with Kubiks. Spearhead marked its tenth anniversary in 2015 with the compilation 10.
