Sofa Sound

Sofa Sound is a Bristol-based drum and bass label founded by DLR as an outlet for his own music. Its sound brings together intricate drum patterns, deep basslines and melodies, with an underground focus spanning drums, bass, funk and experimental elements. DLR launched the label after time spent around Dispatch Recordings, drawing inspiration from Ant TC1’s work running the label. Adam Menzies shaped Sofa Sound’s punk-influenced artwork and visual identity.

DLR’s “Ghostfish” appeared on the label in 2017, before its output widened to include other artists such as Black Barrel and Dub Head. Particle, Halogenix and Kasra are among its artists. DLR favored careful release selection and a measured release schedule. Sofa Sound received Best Newcomer Label at the Drum&BassArena Awards in 2020. In 2026, Flexout Audio acquired Sofa Sound Bristol; DLR stayed involved in A&R, while the two labels kept distinct identities.
