DJ Hype and Tyke’s collaboration grew out of relaxed studio sessions, with Tyke describing the tracks as a natural meeting of their influences rather than an attempt to follow a formula. That easy back-and-forth gives this Playaz release a personal stamp from two artists closely tied to the label.
Guest voices broaden the set: Jodian Natty joins “Stixman Warrior,” while Daddy Earl features on “Jah Is Love.” The titles “Spirituality” and “Jah Is Love” also point toward the reflective, open-hearted outlook Tyke has brought to his recent music.
